Lung Transplant Series

This three-part educational series provides evidence-based updates on contemporary lung transplantation. Faculty will examine robotic lung transplantation and findings from the DREAM Trial, management of common post-transplant complications, and approaches to primary graft dysfunction (PGD) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), including ECMO decision-making and emergent relisting. Expert panel discussions will highlight evolving evidence, challenging clinical scenarios, and practical considerations for lung transplant care.

Purpose (Desired Learning Outcome)

Following this activity, learners will evaluate emerging innovations in lung transplantation, interpret findings from the DREAM Trial, and apply current evidence to clinical decision-making related to lung transplant patient care. They will also recognize common post-transplant complications, evaluate appropriate treatment options, and apply evidence-based management strategies to improve outcomes for lung transplant recipients. Additionally, learners will evaluate patients with primary graft dysfunction, select appropriate management strategies, including ECMO when indicated, and apply current evidence to guide treatment decisions for severe post-transplant complications.
