Plenary Session VII: Controversies - Six Thought Stimulating Abstracts | Recorded at the AATS Mitral Conclave 2025

Plenary Session VII: Controversies – Six Thought-Stimulating Abstracts, recorded at the AATS Mitral Conclave 2025, features six data-driven presentations examining contemporary debates in mitral and tricuspid valve surgery. This session explores emerging evidence related to simplified repair strategies, prosthesis selection, minimally invasive and robotic approaches, and outcomes following prior transcatheter intervention. Faculty present long-term and multicenter data highlighting variability in techniques, institutional experience, and procedural volume, followed by expert discussion of their clinical implications. The plenary is designed to support critical evaluation of evolving evidence and to inform patient selection, procedural planning, and long-term management decisions in modern valvular practice.

Featured Abstract Presentations:

  • 'Less Is More': Isolated Annuloplasty for Bileaflet Prolapse in Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease - A Simplified Approach with Durable Results
  • Low Incidence of Postoperative Pacemaker Implantation Following Tricuspid Valve Repair: Impact of a Contemporary Tricuspid Valve Annuloplasty Device in a Multi-Center Study
  • Long-term Outcomes of Mechanical versus Bioprosthetic Mitral Valve Replacement: A Province-Wide Cohort Study
  • Evolution of Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair: The 30-year Leipzig Experience
  • The Association of Volume of Robotic Mitral Repair on Early and Late Outcomes in the United States
  • Successful Minimally-Invasive Fully Endoscopic Surgical Mitral Valve Repair After Transapical Chord Implantation and Transseptal Mitral Edge-to-Edge Repair with Five Clips Implanted
